The residents of the society in South Delhi expressed concern over increasing instances of stray dog attacks in their locality

A woman from South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj suffered a leg fracture after a pack of stray dogs chased her at her residential complex. The woman, 56-year-old Anu Dogra is in need of a corrective surgery and is currently admitted to Delhi’s AIIMS hospital.

The incident has been captured in the society’s security camera where the woman could be seen coming down the stairs from her flat, when five to six dogs came running towards her. One of them crashed into her which led her to trip and fall with her leg twisted. The dogs are then running away.

As per a Free Press Journal report, the woman has been identified as the wife of Dr PN Dogra, a former renowned urologist at AIIMS. She was climbing down the stairs to take a walk within the society premises. The residents of the society in South Delhi expressed concern over increasing instances of stray dog attacks in their locality.

In another instance of stray dog attack, a 12-year old girl from Ghaziabad was seriously injured after a pack of stray dogs attacked her in a residential complex. The video of the incident went viral on social media where a pack of stray bags are seen attacking a child leaving the kid with several bitemarks and cuts.

Delhi-NCR has recently seen a rise in cases of brutal stray dog attacks post and the MCD has decided to come up with a plan to battle the stray dog attack menace.

In March, two minor brothers, aged 7 and 5 respectively, were found dead in southwest Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area causing massive outrage in the city. The child’s body bore multiple injury marks which seemed to have been caused by an animal bite.

The Delhi High Court has said the stray dog menace in the national capital is a serious issue which needs to be addressed with urgency and has asked the municipal commissioner to take appropriate action. The high court’s direction came while quashing two FIRs lodged against a woman, who is a philanthropist and an animal lover, on the allegation that her dogs had bitten a man and his father on different occasions in 2014.

The court quashed the FIRs after the parties- the woman and her neighbours- amicably settled the issue last year.
