South Africa will face New Zealand in the first ODI of their Women’s Cricket series. South Africa performed well in their recent tour of Pakistan. Their batters played well to hand a 2-1 loss to the hosts. The team will be hoping to maintain the winning momentum against the Kiwis as well.
The match will be hosted at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on September 24. New Zealand also picked up a 2-1 series victory against Sri Lanka a few months ago. Tthe Kiwis have a poor record against South Africa as they have failed to win a single match against them in their previous four clashes. They will be looking to get back to winning ways against their rivals on Sunday.
Despite bagging their previous series against Pakistan, South Africa had conceded an eight-wicket loss in their third game. The entire team was dismissed by the Pakistani bowlers for a score of 185. In the second innings of the game, Ayabonga Khaka and Nadine de Klerk combined for two wickets but it just wasn’t enough to seal a win.
New Zealand, on the other hand, were humiliated by Sri Lanka in their final game of the series by 10 wickets. It was Harshitha Samarawickrama and Chamari Athapaththu who secured the win for their side.
