Mona Singh reveals she had to stay in a hotel while shooting for Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin and was restricted from doing any kind of cosmetic treatment to match up to the character.
Mona Singh is a well-known actress in the film and television industries. She rose to prominence for her depiction of the eccentric and middle-class Punjabi girl Jasmeet Walia, commonly known as Jassi, in the 2003 show Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. The sitcom received high ratings and quickly became one of the most popular shows on television. Mona Singh was praised for her exceptional acting abilities and strong chemistry with co-star Apurva Agnihotri. In a recent interview, the actress revealed how she prepared for the role and the hype that was created around her character.
In an interview with Mirchi Plus, Mona Singh revealed, “I was not allowed to do waxing, no threading, no eyebrows, and they would stick more hair on my face. I was not allowed to bleach my face. These were the too many restrictions that I was asked to follow to match up to Jassi.”
She added that the restrictions were so strict that even her co-actors on the show did not know how Mona looked in real life. Mona mentioned, “Contracts were very strict at that point of time. I couldn’t tell anyone how I looked in real life or who I am or what my name is? The first ever award that I bagged for the show was as Jasmeet Walia and I did not get it as Mona Singh. I used to wonder when people get to know me and look at me. But it was another high to be Jassi as the show was very popular.”
Mona Singh shared that during that time, the media had challenged that “they would reveal my real identity, my address, and how I look in real life.” Therefore, the channel “freaked out,” and they got her out of her home and asked her to stay in a hotel. “ I had to stay at a hotel; my cars would change, and I would always get ready in my Jassi look in my hotel and would then go to my set,” said Mona.
The actress has been in several popular television shows, including Kya Hua Tera Vaada and Kavach, in addition to Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. Furthermore, she has appeared in web series such as Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain and M.O.M – Mission Over Mars. She has had supporting roles in the movies 3 Idiots and Laal Singh Chaddha. Recently, she played the role of Bulbul Jauhari in the popular series Made in Heaven Season 2.
