Pramod Agrawal has done his BTech from IIT Bombay.

He served as the CEO of Coal India, widely regarded as the largest coal-producing corporation in the world, from February 2020 to June 2023.

One such officer is IAS Pramod Agrawal, who served as the chairman and managing director of Coal India Limited (CIL) for more than three years. Today, let’s take a look at the success story of Pramod Agrawal. According to reports, Pramod Agrawal is an IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre of the 1991 batch. From February 2020 to June 2023, he served as the CEO of Coal India, widely regarded as the largest coal-producing corporation in the world.

Coal India is a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. Reports suggest that this company has a market capitalisation of Rs 1,78,000 crore, as of September 25. Prior to taking over as its CEO, Pramod Agrawal served as the Principal Secretary, of the Department of Technical Education, Skill Development, and Employment, and the Department of Labor under the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Pramod Agrawal has done his Bachelor’s degree (BTech) in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Bombay. In 1988, he completed his MTech in Design Engineering from IIT Delhi. IAS Agrawal has over 30 years of administrative experience under his belt in varied fields of public administration.

Pramod was also the managing director of the Madhya Pradesh Finance Corporation. He served as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company and as CEO of Madhya Pradesh Rural Development Authority. He was also the Collector of Morena and Mahasamund Districts of Madhya Pradesh.

He received professional training in project appraisal and risk management from Duke University, Raleigh, US, and a program on infrastructure development and financing from IIM, Ahmedabad.
