On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 154th birth anniversary, various programs were held across the country to pay tribute to the Father of the nation. Among these, the Gandhi Museum in Madurai organised an art program under the theme “Let’s Celebrate Children,” which is currently garnering widespread attention.

According to the reports, the event was a collaborative effort between the Gandhi Museum and the JC Organization. It featured a range of artistic programs including singing, dancing and speech contests. The primary aim was to emphasise Gandhiji’s principles and impart them to the children, ensuring that they learn the Mahatma’s philosophies and educational ideals. Some children even dressed up to resemble Bappu.

Over 200 children between the ages of six and sixteen participated in the program, showcasing their various talents. Later, Saravanan, a teacher at Madurai Primary School, narrated stories on important topics like Good Touch, Bad Touch, Caste Eradication and the significance of kindness towards others. The celebration of Gandhi Jayanti was marked with great enthusiasm.

These children hailed from different areas such as Alankanallur, Gomes Palayam, Pattanadi, Chintamani and others. Following the event, the children were presented with a complimentary book titled “Rope” on behalf of the Peace Society and the Rotary Society. Furthermore, the art exhibition at the Gandhi Memorial Museum was also opened for viewing by the general public and tourists.

Established in 1959, the Gandhi Memorial Museum is located in the city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu. Gandhi Jayanti holds great significance nationwide and is celebrated on October 2 every year to honour the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This day serves as a reminder of his enduring principles of non-violence (Ahinsa), truth and peace.

On the other hand, people paid tributes at the Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai. The ‘Peace Walk’, which began in Kanniyakumari on September 15, concluded at the museum in Madurai on Monday.
