iPhone 17 slim is probably Apple’s demo hit before the foldables come
Apple seems to be focused on making a new slim and lightweight iPhone model that could show the company’s direction in the future.
Apple has the MacBook Air and the iPad Air in its lineup but soon we could see an iPhone Air model added to the mix. We have heard rumours about a thin iPhone design that could be part of the iPhone 17 series in 2025 but this is the first time the word Air is being used for the supposed model.
The report from Bloomberg this week hints at the bigger picture with this overhaul in the lineup that could have a direct impact on Apple’s foldable ambitions. Bringing the Air moniker to the market not only allows Apple to showcase a new focus on design and premiumness but also get another model added to its revenue coffers.
The report suggests Apple could tone down on the hardware features and show its design mettle for once. So, this could mean that unlike the iPhone 17 Pro models, the Air or Slim version could have fewer cameras, less focus on performance within the premium segment. It is also believed that Apple might see the demand for iPhone 17 Slim/Air to be far greater than what it garnered with the Mini and Plus monikers over the years.
Slim iPhone Design With A Bigger Aim
The slim iPhone could give Apple the room to experiment with its design which has honestly become dated and people have been crying out for some refreshing upgrades on that front. The slim profile of an iPhone could ideally catapult the next era of iPhones, i.e the foldable generation which has been the talk of the town over the past few months.
The frequency of the iPhone foldable rumours have also gone up recently, which clearly says the plans are well in motion and now it is up to Apple to decide if the slim engineering can result in a final product that excites the industry. The foldables are still ranging in the ultra premium segment, and Apple will not make it any easier for the market to evolve or become more accessible.
