The 7th season of the reality show Bigg Boss Tamil started on October 1 and has already generated enough interest among fans. The Kamal Haasan-hosted show has 18 contestants this season and one of them is actress, model and singer Maya S Krishnan. Maya Krishnan initially gained fame in the field of modelling and later played supporting roles in films like Vaanavil Vaazhkai and Thodari. She received the most attention for appearing in scenes alongside Kamal Haasan in the 2022 film Vikram where she played a sex worker.
Ever since Maya’s name was mentioned as one of the contestants of Bigg Boss Tamil 7, she has been in discussion and is trending for a controversy that erupted a few years back. In 2018, Maya was embroiled in a sexual harassment case. It was a time when the #MeToo movement was gaining traction in India and many famous personalities like Nana Patekar, lyricist Vairamuthu and director Susi Ganesan were named.
During the wave of people coming out with their experiences, theatre artist Ananya Ramaprasad then called out Maya Krishnan for having sexually assaulted her. Ananya had described her ordeal with Maya in her Facebook post. She had claimed that Maya coerced her into having a sexual relationship with her through manipulation.
Maya had vehemently opposed the allegations and had said that she was just trying to provide a safe haven for an 18-year-old who was suffering from poor mental health. She then admitted that it was a mistake to safeguard Ananya considering her as a child. Maya further added that Ananya had fabricated the facts to make her look like an abuser.
The fiasco did not last very long and although both parties maintained their stance till the end, the entire issue was soon forgotten and written off by the media. But with the inclusion of Maya Krishnan in Bigg Boss Tamil 7, many people have been demanding to know why an alleged sexual offender was allowed to be on the show, while her supporters maintain that the allegations were never proven.
